Selection Criteria

The scholarship candidate must:

  1. Have a current individual or institutional membership in AHP (with no restrictions as to the length of experience in health care fundraising).

  2. Have completed the online scholarship application, summarizing the reasons he/she feels qualified to receive a scholarship and providing a brief history of professional fundraising experience.

The AHP Scholarship Committee will review all eligible applications and base their recommendations on expressed financial need, clear objective for use of scholarship and goals for career development.  AHP volunteer service as well as any additional notes on applicant's form will also be taken into consideration.

The AHP Foundation will grant eight $2,000 scholarships out of contributions to the Annual Fund. Scholarships are usually granted to at least one member in each region and to one international candidate.

The recipient's organization will be reimbursed up to $2,000 for registration and travel costs.  Upon receipt of a written summary of an awardee’s experience and detailed expenses (with receipts), the scholarship funds will be disbursed.

The AHP Foundation scholarship program does not preclude or conflict with any existing regional scholarship programs. However, recipients of the AHP Foundation Scholarship must wait one full year from the date they attend the conference of their choice before being eligible to apply again.

Please see below for information regarding endowment scholarships.

Award conditions:

  1. Scholarships out of contributions to the Annual Fund are used for current individual or institutional members of AHP to attend either the 2012 AHP Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy at Madison or the 2012 AHP Annual International Conference.

  2. Scholarship funds are applied in the following priority:  registration, lodging, and travel.

  3. The recipient is responsible for the balance of transportation and per diem expenses.
