The Senate Finance Committee received the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimate of its amended health care reform proposal on Wednesday, October 7 and is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Oct. 13 to vote on the legislation. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has not indicated when he plans to bring the bill to the Senate floor, but leaders expressed confidence that the Finance bill could be quickly merged with one adopted in July by the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. The main provision for paying for reforms remains uncertain. The House committees reportedly have completed merging their bills and today will be sending the legislation to the Congressional Budget Office for scoring.
