The development operation is poised for major transformation with increased funding and focus. Recent wealth screening data shows that the prospect base is fertile for major gifts fundraising, especially in the 6 and 7 figure category. The incoming AVP will be part of a team that is playing a vital role in changing philanthropy at a world-class institution. There is opportunity for greatness and upside potential in a development shop that has traditionally been underperforming and underutilized.
The AVP for Major Gifts is a newly created role brought about by the recent reorganization within the development department. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the AVP for Major Gifts will oversee the major gifts team currently comprised of 11individuals assigned to specific clinical areas such as cancer, children’s health, heart and vascular, neurosciences, and restorative medicine; in addition, the AVP will supervise 3 officers who serve as generalists. The AVP also provides leadership and guidance to the senior management team to ensure the smooth operation of the organization, and the appropriate alignment of operational strategies with the overall institutional mission and available resources.
