The Director of Development is a senior development officer who sets the strategic direction for the Department of Internal Medicine’s fundraising efforts. The department is the largest in the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) with 12 divisions that encompass over 34 diseases and disease program support. The Director will be charged with leading an aggressive fundraising effort to increase disease based fundraising support for the Department and UMHS. The Director will manage and solicit a portfolio of major gift prospects including gifts to support professorships, research, faculty and trainee support, patient care and capital, and manage a team of major gift officers and administrative support. This position reports jointly to the Department of Internal Medicine’s Department Administrator and the AVP for the Office of Medical Development and Alumni Relations.
