Successful track record in fundraising, foundation leadership and management; high preference for experience working physicians in general, surgeons in particular.  Prior experience in academic medical center is helpful.  Must possess experience sufficient to be credible with physician board members from highly sophisticated academic centers and other arenas.

The American College of Surgeons (ACS), is seeking experienced candidates for the role of Executive Director (ED) of the College’s Foundation.  ACS is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice. The College currently has over 70,000 members; the largest organization of surgeons in the world.  Reports to the ACS chief executive. The ED will be a key member of the ACS leadership team, working to strategically integrate major gifts, planned giving and the annual fund drive as the Foundation seeks to move from an annual campaign of $2 million to $5 million by year 2013.
