Selection Criteria

The Mid-Atlantic Region has designated funds for providing scholarship assistance to current members of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).  The scholarship awards are for attendance at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference from June 1 to June 3, 2008 in Pittsburgh, PA.  The Mid-Atlantic Region will award two $500 scholarships to AHP members who are currently working for a health care institution.

The recipient’s organization will be reimbursed up to $500 for registration and travel costs.  Upon receipt of a written summary of an awardee’s experience and detailed expenses (with receipts), scholarship funds will be disbursed.

Notification letters to the applicants will be mailed from the AHP office in mid-March 2008.

The Scholarship Candidate Must:

1. Have a current individual or institutional membership in AHP (with no restrictions as to the length of experience in health care fund raising.)

2. Have completed the scholarship application, summarizing the reasons he/she feels qualified to receive a scholarship and providing a brief history of professional fundraising experience.  The AHP Mid-Atlantic Committee will review all applications and base their recommendations on expressed financial need, clear objectives for use of scholarship and goals for career development as well as any additional notes on applicant’s form.

The online scholarship application must be completed no later than February 22, 2008.
Only faxed or mailed applications will  be eligible for consideration.

Conditions of Award:

1. Scholarships are used for current members of AHP to attend the 2008 AHP Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference.

2. Scholarship funds are applied in the following priority: lodging then travel.

3. The recipient is responsible for the balance of transportation and per diem expenses.

4. The recipient must submit a written summary of his or her educational experience no later than 30 days following the completion of the the Conference.  This summary will become property of AHP.

This scholarship program does not preclude or conflict with any existing scholarship programs.
