| Baylor College of Medicine
Recognized for Fundraising Efforts |
The Baylor College of Medicine in Houston received accolades from the Association of Fundraising Professionals for its excellence in fundraising for 2002. The college was honored for the results of its recent staff and faculty campaign as a key segment of the $520 million capital campaign. While the college raised just less than $500,000 in its previous staff campaign, its 2001 endeavor raised more than $31 million. More than 1,700 of the college's 5,000 faculty and staff participated with an increase in average donations from $1,700 to $8,400. The campaign total goal was reached one year before the projected end date and was the most successful capital campaign in Houston, Texas. The development staff at Baylor College of Medicine attributes much of their success to their newly developed fundraising plan, which focused on individual, personalized solicitations, a focus on major gifts and pledges of $25,000 or more and grassroots involvement of volunteer staff leadership.
