This job description provides a general guideline to the most common duties, responsibilities, and minimum requirements for this position. It is not all inclusive and the actual position may vary as circumstances indicate or as determined by the Association. Working hours are primarily during day shift working hours, but the Digital Marketing Manager may need to work varied extended hours as projects demand. Travel will be required.

Summary of Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Digital Marketing Manager will independently lead the development and execution of our digital communications channels, including (but not limited to) website, email, and social media. This individual will work closely with other AHP teams––membership, research and insights, and events––to fully understand their promotional needs and develop campaigns to help them reach their goals. Every aspect of this position will require data-driven decision-making and design thinking. This requires the Digital Marketing Manager to be tracking metrics, progress towards goals, and continually reporting them out to the AHP teams, while improving tactics based upon these learnings.

Principal Duties

The ideal candidate would:

  • Embody the values and core competencies of AHP at all times and positively promotes the Association’s culture
  • Support all internal team members and departments in accomplishing the Association’s mission, vision, and goals
  • Maintain and execute a comprehensive calendar that shows the different outbound communications for company-wide visibility and understanding
  • Establish regular marketing performance reporting to leadership along with analysis and recommendations, ensuring we continually learn and iterate based on those learnings
  • Fully understand how data flows between systems, and is capable of creating dynamic and static queries of audience segmentation to personalize communications for better engagement
  • Uphold best practices for email, CMS, social media, and marketing analytics tools, creating SOPs and templates wherever possible to ensure consistency across all communications
  • Manage AHP website’s content, which includes:
    • Manage an editorial calendar that addresses relevant and current topics to increase engagement from targeted audiences
    • Manage author relationships (both internal and external) to expand the breadth of thought leadership featured in the website, including the blog
    • Continuously look for ways to optimize the content and site design/structure for search, mobile, and increased engagement (e.g. comments, social sharing)
    • Test various tactics to increase the website’s resourcefulness for audiences seeking reliable and expert information regarding healthcare philanthropy
    • Actively monitor and report on performance against established KPIs
  • Manage social media content, which includes:
    • Posting frequently across our main social channels optimized for those channels and those audiences, for both the Association and the CEO’s social profiles
    • Identifying and develop and influencer outreach plan
    • Performing active social listening, looking for relevant conversations to join as well as engaging current followers with relevant information
    • Actively monitoring and reporting on performance against established KPIs
  • Manage email marketing, which includes:
    • Managing a campaign calendar to track when different communications are being sent and to which audience segment
    • Regularly practicing list hygiene tactics, including addressing disengaged subscribers, unsubscribing invalid emails, and personalizing campaign frequencies based on engagement preferences
    • Upholding best practices for all campaigns
    • Monitoring sender reputation, deliverability, and inbox placement performance
    • Developing automated workflows whenever possible
    • Actively monitoring and report on performance against established KPIs

The ideal candidate would also:

  • Work on special projects and other duties as required helping to promote Association’s success
  • Remain current with latest digital marketing practices to further drive success of the Association
  • Develop relationships with board and committee members to drive the strategy and progress towards marketing goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Specifications

Education, Training, and/or Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of digital marketing and managerial experience required
  • Marketing and/or data analytics certifications preferred
  • Hootsuite University or other digital marketing certifications preferred
  • Work on special projects and other duties as required helping to promote Association’s success
  • Remain current with latest digital marketing practices to further drive success of the Association
  • Develop relationships with board and committee members to drive the strategy and progress towards marketing goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
