Design methods are increasingly used in envisioning, planning and delivering highly personal, rewarding experiences. In major gifts fundraising, a donor's reward is almost entirely experiential. By integrating design methodology with Lean practices, Virginia Mason Foundation continues to deepen its understanding of how to discover donor motivation and to have its major gifts officers think past "getting the gift" to "delivering The Prize"-- that individualized combination of information, special inclusion, sense of impact, and thoughtful recognition.
