About the AHP Foundation

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Foundation provides the resources for AHP to support the healthcare philanthropy community. Your generous pledge to the Foundation's annual fund helps AHP advance healthcare through philanthropic innovation, education, advocacy, and services and resources that benefit healthcare development professionals.

  • Your dollars fund several scholarships each year for those who are new to the profession or would not otherwise have a chance to experience a professional development institute or conference.
  • Your gifts keep the AHP Resource Center strong and accessible. The resource center provides materials and research on topics essential for today's healthcare development professionals.
  • Your pledge helps AHP advocate and promote our profession in a meaningful way.

The AHP Foundation will continue to support the AHP Resource Center and AHP Foundation Scholarship program as outlined in the 2016 Case for Support. Your contribution to the Foundation's annual fund is vital to the success of these programs.

Scholarship Recipients Appreciate Their Opportunities

“Our leadership hired me three months ago with a vision for building a private giving pipeline they’ve not yet explored. This scholarship and timeliness of the conference gave me the credibility to set the stage for building a culture of philanthropy throughout the system. Our small but mighty organization has a long way to go, but thanks to AHP I now have access to a wealth of resources to help get us there. I look forward to attending future events and reconnecting with fellow members who have already become dear friends, including your very own Executive Director Shawn Fincher.

This experience has demonstrated the value of AHP membership to my senior leaders and I would absolutely recommend it to others. I am so very grateful, thank you so much!”

"The opportunity to attend the 2022 AHP International Conference in October was inspiring and uplifting. I am so grateful to the AHP Foundation Board and selection committee for choosing me as the 2022 Hospital Development and Education Fund (HDEF) of Canada bursary recipient.

I loved how EDI principles were woven throughout the entire conference, from start to finish. It created a vibe of inclusivity and belonging. Deep and meaningful conversations were taking place. It was eyeopening to hear people's stories, experiences and truths. Thank you to AHP for including these themes in a thoughtful and intentional manner that supports all of our journeys to be more inclusive and aware.

Since the beginning of my career, I recognized the incredible value AHP brings to our profession, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to volunteer and attend conferences that your incredible team and volunteers put together each year. I feel even more honoured to be recognized as one of AHP's 40 under 40 this year.

Thank you for providing me with another incredible education experience."

“I would like to begin by sharing my heartfelt gratitude to the AHP Foundation Board Selection Committee, for choosing me to receive the 2022 Brewster Terry Scholarship. I attended the 46th Annual Madison Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy, July 17 – 22, 2022 and in one word, it was outstanding! This evaluation is centered around my appreciation for three key components of the experience: faculty, focus and friends.

I have previously attended several of AHP’s Annual International Conferences, and have found each one exceptional, but my Madison Institute experience exceeded my expectations because of the focus of the Advanced Skills for Major Gifts track. The artfully assembled curriculum reestablishes the core competencies, key skills and essential tools used in Major Gifts. From this solid foundation, our cohort was stretched beyond our comfort zone in new and exciting ways; guided by comprehensive course materials and illustrative real-world examples shared by our mentor-coaches.”

Beebe Healthcare Medical Foundation
Lewes, DE

David was a recipient of the Brewster Terry Scholarship, and he attended the 2022 AHP Madison Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy, Advanced Skills for Major Gifts track.

“I cannot say enough about my experience at the Madison Institute. I participated in the Annual Giving Track, and every topic was pertinent to my job. It was indeed a valuable professional development opportunity for me. Since I am responsible for the Grateful Patient program, the Employee Giving, work with our events, and our newsletters and social media, I gained so much information that will be helpful in my daily job.

The conference was first class, and I could not have asked for more. Every aspect of the conference was fantastic, including the presentations, the notebooks, the instructors,  the attendees, and the facilities. The food and beverage were more than I expected from the conference, and the design had just the correct number of breaks, networking, and instruction.

I expected to take classes, but I did not expect the quality of the overall experience. My expectations were more than surpassed!”
