Certification

AHP offers credits toward Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification and recertification. One hour of qualifying education equals 1 CFRE point. Educational sessions, webinars, or workshops must be at least 45–60 minutes in length to qualify for 1 point. Points are earned at a 1:1 ratio for attendance, with 80 total education points required for initial certification.

Key Details on CFRE Credits:

• Education: 1 point per 1 hour of attendance at workshops, seminars, or conferences.
• Teaching/Presenting: Earn 2 points per hour for teaching previously developed material and 3 points per hour for new material.
• Minimum Time: Sessions must be at least 45 minutes to qualify for 1 point.
• Exclusions: Podcasts and regular employment duties do not count as continuing education points.
• Approval: Only 20% of total education points can be from training offered by your employer. 

For re-certification, you must show you have completed 80 hours of education, which can be done through a combination of approved webinars, conferences, and seminars. 

The Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP) is a designation bestowed on AHP members who have made significant contributions to the healthcare philanthropy profession. The Fellow designation recognizes a career of achievement. 

Representing fewer than 2% of AHP members, the FAHP is awarded to those who truly demonstrate professional excellence and a commitment to health care philanthropy.

Becoming a Fellow of AHP signifies a high level of accomplishment and expertise in healthcare philanthropy. The designation assures the public that their donations are in the hands of a professional. On your resume, your AHP Fellow designation tells current and prospective employers that you have met a recognized standard of excellence and have reached the top of your profession.
