AHP Journal Guidelines
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Deadline: October 8, 2008, for the Spring 2009 AHP Journal
The AHP Journal seeks manuscripts on all aspects of health care development and philanthropy. These include, among others:
- fundraising;
- career enhancement;
- planned giving;
- donor relations;
- organizational strategies; and
- the effect of health care reform, mergers, acquisitions, etc. on health
care philanthropy.
Submissions with original research and examples from multiple case studies are strongly encouraged. First-person "success stories" that report on
activities and campaigns also are welcome – however, they must be
well documented and specific. For example, articles on
fundraising activities should cite the cost-per-dollar raised, the
number or percentage of donors increased or upgraded, etc.
All submissions must be original. Previously published materials (including materials posted on Web sites) or
those under consideration by another publication will not be accepted.
Association membership is not a prerequisite for submission. Co-authorship is permitted.
Authors receive no remuneration or reimbursement for the expense of
preparing articles. Articles published in the AHP Journal by individual
association members become eligible for annual awards presented by the
AHP Journal Advisory Committee.
All accepted manuscripts become the permanent property of AHP and may
not be published elsewhere without the permission of the author and
AHP.
Manuscript Information
Editorial decisions are based on relevancy and interest to AHP
members, quality of writing, editorial balance, and space
constraints.
Manuscripts should be submitted by e-mail, as well as in hard copy
form. When submitting the article as an e-mail attachment, the document
must be submitted as a text file. Hard copies of manuscripts should be typed, with each page numbered.
Manuscripts should be 1,000 to 2,000 words, or four to ten typewritten, double-spaced pages. In addition, they should be well organized,
tightly written, and free of grammatical, spelling, and factual
errors. Authors are requested to use
endnotes, not footnotes, and to fully note all sources.
Graphics and charts should be submitted as separate electronic files
(graphics should be saved as JPG or JIF files). Hard copies of graphics and charts should
also be provided or imbedded in the document.
A cover letter and 50-word biography should accompany all
manuscripts.
Manuscripts accepted for publication will be edited to
AHP’s style and, when necessary, trimmed to fit space constraints.
Authors will be sent a proof of their articles prior to publication.
Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, including
changes made by Journal editors and approved by the authors.
If a manuscript is accepted, the author will then be asked to submit
a color photo for publication in the Journal.
