“This past October I was fortunate enough to be presented with a scholarship opportunity to attend the 50th annual AHP International Conference, held October 18th through October 21st. This phenomenal learning experience was located within the beautiful backdrop of New Orleans, LA.
Now, before I even begin sharing my perceptions of the conference, I would like to express the sincere gratitude of both myself and my employer (MaineGeneral) for presenting me with the opportunity to attend such a dynamic, transformational conference which provided me with an experience to both learn and grow as a professional.
Attending this conference presented me with an opportunity to rub shoulders and network with some of the top professionals in our field, while also presenting me with the opportunity to attend several engaging and thought-provoking educational presentations specific to our tradecraft while incorporating presentations which addressed work/life balance, professional networking, personal growth, and some of the more prevalent overarching challenges facing the sector of healthcare philanthropy. I was also especially impressed with the opportunity to participate in both the international conference huddle group as well as the new AHP mentorship program, involving some of the more proven, accomplished professionals within our sector – both of which I thought added tremendous value to my experience attending the conference.”

“Being from Canada, I expected to get a flavor for the ways in which the difference in funding in the US affects strategies in Healthcare fundraising. I also expected to be inspired by new and innovative approaches to fundraising that I could bring back to my work. My expectations were met!
My goal in attending this conference was to gain some tools and inspirations that I could apply to my work back at Bluewater Health, while getting to try some of the famous flavors of New Orleans. I definitely achieved the goal. The ability to attend this conference with my Executive Director allowed for us to bring a shared vision for next steps with many of our ongoing projects, and some ideas for new ones.”
