Support Groups and Community Organizations

Introduction

Donor clubs, affiliated groups, and community service organizations play an important role in the health care resource development process. It is important, therefore, that development professionals understand the need to cultivate these groups and solicit their assistance in providing financial and volunteer support. That is why this topic is one of the fundamental educational programs offered by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Foundation and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).

This course examines the role of resource development staff in organizing and working with volunteer groups serving the needs of the health care organization, and offers suggestions for cultivating relationships with affiliated group members. Tips for cultivating and soliciting support from service clubs and other community groups also are included.

The guide recapitulates material covered in the AHP course "Support Groups and Community Organizations" and points you to additional resources to help you gain yet more detailed knowledge of this subject.
