Catherine Downes Bower is president of Cate Bower Communications, West River, MD and a principal partner in Tecker Consultants, LLC, Yardley, PA. Her work focuses on strengthening not-for-profit governance, strategic thinking and planning, and openness and transparency to achieve organizational success.

A skilled facilitator and an award winning strategist and writer, Bower has worked with clients to assist Boards and leadership teams in strategic conversations designed to create organizational breakthroughs.

A Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), she has chaired both its Research Committee and its Communications Section Council, served on the ASAE Foundation Board of Directors, and chaired the 2003 Strategic Leadership Forum of ASAE. She served as core faculty for the Power of Partnership Symposium sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and co-facilitates the Canadian Society of Association Executive’s CEO Symposium Program. She served as editor of Working Smart Newsletter, and the highly regarded business books Work in the 21st Century and Worklife Visions. A graduate of Kent State University, she is a frequent speaker on management issues, communications, and is a Certified Association Executive.

Bob Murphy, a well-known operations leader and national health care presenter, joined the Studer Group after spending more than 23 years in health care. His extensive experience includes work as a registered nurse, department leader of Emergency Trauma Services, quality leader, and chief operating officer. He is board certified in health care administration and is a Diplomat of the American College of Health Care Executives.

Bob Murphy presents at health care conferences and seminars, and works with directors and senior leadership teams. He has spoken to thousands of health care leaders from around the world. He is a true difference-maker and continues to strive to make health care better.

Most recently, Murphy served as the senior vice-president and administrator for Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL. His connection to Quint Studer, founder and CEO of Studer Group, began at Baptist Hospital in 1996 when Murphy began working with Studer, then-president of the hospital. Murphy’s efforts, along with others, have led Baptist Hospital to be ranked among the top 1% in health care customer service according to Press Ganey for over eight consecutive years; to be named as one of Fortune Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For in America for five years and to be awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Health Care in 2003.
