Dear AHP Rockies & Southwest Regional Members: In my 13 years with AHP, the most enjoyable meeting I have attended was the recent Regional Conference in Austin, TX. Congratulations to Rick Resnik, Seton Fund, Austin, and his committee of relentless planners who put together this conference. The meeting set attendance records with 130 registrations. It was great seeing those who attended and to network with each of you. Another opportunity will be the International Conference in San Francisco this October. By opportunity, I mean you can take the CFRE exam; take home some of the most successful programs being offered; and generally have a great time networking with the very best in our business. Pat Mulvey recipient of the 2002 award, made the presentations at the Regional Conference. He described Lisa as a little package with lots of punch. Kennedy began her fundraising career at SMU in Corporate Relations. She then moved to Rice University in Houston and joined Baylor College of Medicine in 1996 to lead the Foundation Division of Baylor's $500 million capital campaign. She was recognized for her leadership with the Brown Foundation's $25 million campaign gift and role in the largest campaign in Houston, TX. She serves as membership chair for the Rockies and Southwest Region and Co-chaired the Galveston Conference in 1998. Franci is responsible for fundraising in eight rural hospitals across Oklahoma. In establishing affiliated funds in each rural community, Franci is involved in trustee selection, has elevated rural fundraising to levels never before attained.
A special part of the day was the presentation of the awards by Barbara Gunnin, widow of Gerry Gunnin, Ph.D. The Professional Achievement Award is named in honor of and serves as a tribute to the many things Gerry brought to our region and profession.
