PhotoIn the past year, I have changed employers, changed positions, and moved to a different city. My involvement with the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) has made this transition much easier for me. I was able to immediately connect with other AHP members, near and far, who are dealing with the same issues such as donor retention and campaign planning through the listserv and by telephone. This year’s AHP southeast regional conference will set the stage for new members and those more seasoned to share their experiences and expertise, build a network with other colleagues, and find resources to make your job easier while enjoying the Florida sun.

Whether you are starting a new position or have been in your current job for years, take advantage of all that the 2008 Association Healthcare Philanthropy Southeast Regional Conference has to offer. Throughout the conference, you will have the opportunity to learn best practices from around our region, network with your peers, and sharpen your professional skills. The educational tracks have been designed for every level covering an extensive list of topics including employee and major gift campaigns, making the ask, and office policies. Each session will offer at least three take away items that you can immediately utilize in your development office upon your return. Outside of the sessions, you will be given the opportunity to network with your peers. There are various occasions for you to network including the opening reception on the beach, small organized dinners on Monday night, and the 19th hole closing celebration. Also, newcomers are invited to begin the conference with a private reception held in their honor. And don’t forget to show your support to our conference vendors who are prepared to demonstrate how their product will make your job easier and more efficient.

I encourage you to invite your board members and your hospital CEO. This conference will provide a multitude of opportunities for them to advance their philanthropic knowledge including the pre-conference development primer. It is well worth the time and money to send your first time conference attendees to this session.
