Q & A

1. How did you get into health care philanthropy?

My career started in the fast-paced, demanding worlds of nonprofits, professional athletics, and government. I became adept at succeeding in high pressure, ever-changing environments. This experience, coupled with proven fundraising success, gave me my start in health care philanthropy as the Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator with the OhioHealth Foundation.

2. Why did you choose to make health care philanthropy your career?

I hold a deep belief that nothing impacts your life more than a health related event. When my son was 4 months old he had serious respiratory problems. He should not have survived, but did. This would not have happened without excellent care. The incident has forever impacted my life and made healthcare advances a huge passion of mine. I want to help others connect their passion with transformational projects that leave lasting impacts.

3. Tell us about a pivot point or crucial step in your career journey.

Accepting that not every advancement opportunity is right for me and not everyone has to like you. This acceptance has grounded me and deepened relationships. I’ve been able to stay the course, perfect my craft, and understand that integrity is everything.

4. What was your first job, and what is something it taught you?

Babysitting two behaviorally challenged brothers. It taught me patience, determination, and that more people should throw like a girl.

5. What are your future aspirations?

I aim to continuously learn, serve in senior leadership, raise kind children, and travel the world.
