About the AHP Foundation

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Foundation provides the resources for AHP to support the healthcare philanthropy community. Your generous pledge to the Foundation's annual fund helps AHP advance healthcare through philanthropic innovation, education, advocacy, and services and resources that benefit healthcare development professionals.

  • Your dollars fund several scholarships each year for those who are new to the profession or would not otherwise have a chance to experience a professional development institute or conference.
  • Your gifts keep the AHP Resource Center strong and accessible. The resource center provides materials and research on topics essential for today's healthcare development professionals.
  • Your pledge helps AHP advocate and promote our profession in a meaningful way.

The AHP Foundation will continue to support the AHP Resource Center and AHP Foundation Scholarship program as outlined in the 2016 Case for Support. Your contribution to the Foundation's annual fund is vital to the success of these programs.

Scholarship Recipients Appreciate Their Opportunities

"Thanks to the AHP Foundation Scholarship Fund, I was able to attend my first AHP event. I was drawn to the variety of sessions available during this year’s International Conference, often spoiled for choice when deciding which breakout sessions to join.

I appreciated how all the keynote presentations highlighted different areas of diversity. It was a great reminder of making sure our everyday work is inclusive and accessible for everyone. I enjoyed visiting with the many vendors during the exhibition hours, learning about their products and services. I took away some great contacts and information to share with my operations, strategy, and communications teams.

Overall, the conference met, if not exceeded, my expectations. The learning opportunities were limitless; the people were friendly and knowledgeable; the organization and execution of the entire conference was nothing but professional. I loved the conference app; it was an easy way to plan sessions, connect with attendees, and receive announcements throughout the event.

I am grateful to the AHP Foundation Scholarship Fund for this opportunity. I would love to attend next year’s conference in San Diego, and perhaps present at a conference in the near future. I will encourage my colleagues to apply for a scholarship, as well as attend, next year. The funds were invaluable, as was the experience! THANK YOU!”

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Bursary Selection Committee for selecting me as a recipient. This experience has truly been transformative.

As much as I had read and heard about the Madison Institute, I didn’t really have a full picture of what the experience would be like until I participated firsthand. Attending this program has been wonderful. One of the most enriching aspects was the opportunity to immerse myself in a week-long dedicated session with a cohesive group of individuals with a focus on major gifts and campaigns.

I would and have advised others to take part in the opportunity to attend Madison. I know a week away from family and work, the cost and difficulty with travel to this region seem like a big investment, however, it is more than worth it. Not only have I met my goals and objectives, I can share my experience and knowledge obtained. In addition, the networking and contacts I made will continue to provide support and learning into the future. I would jump at the opportunity to attend the Madison Institute again in the future.”

“Thank you for honoring me as a recipient of the AHP Pacific Endowment Fund in memory of Mark R. McGinly. I am grateful for the opportunity to use these funds to attend the 2023 Madison Institute on July 16 – 21, 2023. I have dreamed about attending the Madison Institute for many years and this year I added the Madison Institute as a stretch goal for my company to consider investing in my professional development. As many healthcare organizations are having challenging times, ours is no different. There have been spending constraints, but my leader knew how eager I was to attend, network and gather best practices from the Madison Institute and bring back to support the hospitals in my home town. Receiving this funding provided relief to our expense budget in a time where resources for investing in luxuries, such as conferences, are slim.

It was absolutely an honor to have been selected as a scholarship recipient from the AHP Foundation. I took full advantage of the experience. I made special efforts to engage in all of the group discussions during the class sessions. I made many meaningful connections with peers in my same track, met others through the networking breakfast, lunches and evening socials, and connected with the faculty during breaks and followed up with sincere letters of gratitude afterwards. I have connected with many colleagues from around the country via LinkedIn and look forward to continuing to learn from others through engagement in the AHP Huddle discussion boards.

In the end, I am returning back to my office with a renewed perspective of healthcare philanthropy and I have created an annual giving plan that I am sharing with the leadership to consider implementing into our future goals. I am grateful to work in healthcare philanthropy. Being surrounded by so many wonderful colleagues at Madison has fueled my passion even more to serve in this healing ministry. I look forward to continuing to leverage the resources provided by AHP.”
