CEO Corner: Advancing Our Collective Expertise in Philanthropy Operations
Alice Ayres, MBA
It is hard to believe that AHP’s Annual International Conference is only five weeks away. I want to thank the International Conference Committee, led by Bruce Bartoo, senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer for MedStar Health, for all their hard work to bring an incredible program to the AHP membership.
A key area of focus this year is on the work of the philanthropy operations professionals who are transforming the way we interact with and report on the generosity of donors. This year’s conference will feature:
1. Sessions designed to advance our collective understanding of and expertise in philanthropy operations. Sessions include:

2. A 3-hour learning lab on the topic of operations — led by Nancy Gregovich, operations officer for Intermountain Healthcare Foundation and co-chair of the AHP Standards Council — with the goal of interactive conversation and collaborative work around the importance of data analytics and integrity, learning to better collaborate with your finance department and understanding how development cycle strategy can lead to sustainable, predictable fundraising outcomes.
3. The launch of AHP’s revised Standards Manual, the standard-bearer for the language used by health care philanthropy professionals and the reporting guidelines for our work. Copies will be available for preorder onsite and our AHP Standards Council will be present to discuss the changes made for this edition.
Whether you are an operations professional or you work closely with this incredibly important group, I invite you to take advantage of this programming at the 2019 AHP Annual International Conference.
